At an Allegan City Council workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 4, to discuss Superfund clean-up at the city-owned dam, council members gave some suggestions of what they’d like to see on the table before deciding whether it stays or goes.
Four Allegan County pharmacies will join a statewide effort to offer lifesaving drug overdose medicine on Naloxone Distribution Day, Saturday, Sept. 14. The naloxone kits will be offered to Michiganders at no cost and distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Plainwell City Council members plan to appoint one of two top applicants at a special meeting tonight, Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at city hall. They met yesterday, Wednesday, Aug. 21, to narrow a field of nine applicants after the Union Enterprise went to press.
Though the late Mayor Rick Brooks will be missed, the Plainwell City Council needs to fill the vacancy. Council members voted Monday, Aug. 12, to accept applications from those willing to serve on council, planning to appoint one to serve out the remainder of Brooks’ term, through November 2022.
